How can I fix my car's air conditioning?

0 votes
It's a 1993 Toyota Corolla, and the AC is just blowing warm air. What's the cheapest way to fix it without going to a mechanic?

Now, I am assuming nothing else wrong but low of refrigerant, Go to auto store and get recharge kit, WITH Gauge. You may have to put a jumper wire across the low pressure switch. Do not just recharge if you have a leak and now have air in it. You will have to pull a vacuum and replace the dryer.
Good Luck

Since a/c work requires some rather expensive, specialized equipment and training, a mechanic is your best bet.

AC's require specialized equipment and training or understanding of the how the system works.

If you no nothing about Air conditioners then I would not recommend trying to fix it your self.

From you question you cannot provide any clue as to why the system is not working.  Are you low on refrigerant?  Is the compressor clutch working?  If you are low on refrigerant then where is the leak coming from?

Judging by your lack of information and knowledge of this particular part of your car I would recommend taking it to a mechanic.

AND- if the compressor is compeltely shot, you can call the local Auto Zone or O'Reily's Auto Parts and get a price for a compressor and clutch, i found one for $255

you can purchase then find a place or a friend to instal it.
that is about 1/2 the price of what the dealership might want
