Could be a stopped up drain pipe from the evaporator. See if you can find a hose under the hood, probably on the passenger's side and see if it is plugged up with mud or something. Moisture accumlates from the heat exchange process and will accumlate in the evaporator case and it needs somewhere to drain. You may have to jack the car up to see the drain. Some Chrysler vehicles  have a goose neck shaped hose that simply needs to be rolled between the fingers to break loose the stoppage.

Depends on the car, but sounds like your heater core is bad, does it have a sweet smell to it?  Is the fluid a certain color?  Depending on the car, the job can get really expensive, and really time consuming.  On some cars its easily accesable through the hood, on others you have to remove major components of the dash.  I would go to a local parts store like autozone and ask them where the heater core is and estimated time to remove and replace it.  Good luck!

yes you can probably fix it yourself.
Just like an air conditioner in the window of a house,,,the A/C in the car collects water and drains it out. Somewhere under the hood along the firewall on the passenger side is either a hole or a little hose that drains out the water. A thin coat hangar will probably unclog it.

Your drain hose is either off or clogged.  Just get in there and find it.  If it is still attached find something you can push through it to unclog it.

There are drains for the system - sounds like they may be plugged and it is filling the heater box with water from condensation and leaking on your floor. You can fix, you will need to get under the car and locate the drains and make sure they are not plugged.
