Is the AC process in cars the same as the AC process in home AC's and refrigerators?

do they have the same components (condensor, evaporator, fan, etc.) and is the troubleshooting similar?
im looking into signing up for this Air Conditioning college course and im wondering if it can be applied to automobile AC systems. heres the course description :
Theory, sequence of operation, components and repair, electrical schematics, and troubleshooting electrical components in air conditioning and refrigeration. Emphasis on safety for the electrical, mechanical and sealed systems.
